The Shishkin Gallery UK opened in 2012, hosting a wealth of 20th century Russian paintings. The collection includes works of prominent artists Ilya Mashkov, Petr Konchalovsky, Alexander Gerasimov, Dmitry Nalbandyan, Ilya Glazunov along with the art of younger generation masters Nikolay Gorlov, Noe Gedenidze, Vasily Vikulov, impressionists from the Soviet era whose names are being promoted by the Gallery.
The Shishkin Gallery UK is proud to exhibit a rare selection of Russian and Soviet pieces, representing a wide range of artistic styles. The Soviet artists painted with outstanding skill, passion and honesty, creating beautiful art of a unique historical importance.
Alongside oil paintings, both small and large scale, the gallery holds a collection of original Russian drawings and graphic art with the special focus on original theatre set and costumes designes.
There are important cultural projects which The Shishkin Gallery is currently invoilved in. They include promoting Historical Still-lives by Nikolay Smirnov (1938-2005), a unique collection of trompe-l'oeil paintings created by this important Russian non-conformist artist within 1975 and 2005.
The most recent cultural event organized by The Shishkin Gallery UK is an important exhibition of works by Alexander Gerasimov (1881-1963) that took place in 2016 at the State Historic Museum (Moscow). The collection on display was comprising of more than one hundred works by Gerasimov from varios period of his life loaned by several state museums and private collectioners.
